Candy company recalls white-coated snacks for possible contamination

Patriot-News - 5/6/2024

Palmer Candy Company is recalling 29 varieties of white-coated snack items out of concern for possible salmonella contamination.

The confectionary items, including yogurt-covered pretzels and cookies and mixed snacks, were sold in Walmart, Target and other stores in 17 states, including Pennsylvania.

For a full list visit the Food and Drug Administration website.

Consumers are urged to return the recalled items for a full refund. Those with questions can contact the company at 1-800-831-0828 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There have been no reported illnesses from the snacks, the FDA said. Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, elderly and those with weakened immune systems.

Symptoms of salmonella infection can include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
