Ontario County Public Health: 17 new COVID-19 cases Monday

HOPEWELL — Ontario County Public Health is reporting 17 new community-acquired cases of COVID-19 but no new deaths as of March 1.

Since the start of the pandemic, 5,801 Ontario County residents have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and 100 people have died.

Many of the new cases are related household contacts, school- and college-age students and community cases.

There are 196 COVID-19 positive individuals who are being isolated. This is in addition to 324 mandatory quarantines (contacts of positive cases), totaling 520 in the isolation and quarantine category.

There are 24 people in the hospital. Admissions equaled discharges today.

With 54 recoveries reported in the last 24 hours, 5,512 recoveries have been reported since the start of the pandemic.

There were 294 negative tests.
